Ping Pong tournament

Just for fun, I organized an ICT Grenland ping pong tournament. The Challenge Cup was the "IKT Grenland mug" - as you can see in the picture ;-) It was a lot of fun. Coupled with hot dogs and something to drink this activity brought a lot of us right back to precious childhood memories. Ambition caused a quick return of old and rusty tricks, and it was great to see that ping pong is pretty much the same as riding a bicycle - you never forget it!

Maybe you'll enjoy this ping pong clip at YouTube just as much as I did..?

If everybody did as me...

...then what would the world be like?

Did you ever ask yourself that question? I have. Actually, already as a small kid - about 8 years old - I would frequently (and I know it sounds crazy) wonder what would happen if EVERYONE acted like me in a given situation. And I don't know why, but all my life the same query keeps popping up in my mind, still!!

D'ya know what that question does to me? It gives me a childish sense of good or bad - I think. Should I steal? Well, if everybody did it, would I like being around that kind of people? NO. OK, so I shouldn't. Should I tell lies? I like to be around honest people, so again, NO.

Am I the only one that has this thought pattern? I'll leave it here in my blog, almost like a journal entry. Maybe someone will find it and share similar "stuff" ;-)

BTW, no, I don't believe I'm such a fanTAStic person. I only think that it's natural to be the kind of person you'd expect others to be.

Fruit and meringue cake!

Lillian and I visited with some good friends and shared the most delicious and unique food experience. Normally I don't go head-over-heels taking pictures of what I'm served, but this was stunning! (Yes, as always, real-life is way better than a picture.)

Underneath the top layer of fresh fruits... a perfect body of meringue. Yummie! Thank you for a wonderful dinner and a desert that produced a watery mouth and heartwarming memories!

Masterpiece beta in September

I've been involved in an exciting project since november last year. If everything goes well the system will go live in September. Most exciting, there's no downside. Can you imagine selling an online solution that only generates money, no cost? (Bet I triggered your interest now, didn't I?)

p.s. The picture only points you to the current website of the company behind this innovative solution - not "the real deal" ;-)

The power of keeping a journal

Lillian and I had a lot of fun with the kids the other day. Doing what?!

Reading our journals from when we were their age. There is a clear difference in style - that of a young girl and a young boy, and sometimes it was quite embarrassing, actually. However, embarrassment always turned into laughter and more detailed storytelling. What a wonderful family activity this is.

Even more so, musing on my childhood this morning I realized how powerfully my journal habits have influenced me. Always writing just before retiring to bed, it forces me to reflect on how I've spent my time and what has happened. I especially enjoy searching my own feelings. I find there's always great learning in self reflection.

A journal seems to extend our memory and every so often I turn to it as a reference to find out where I was or what I did at a particular day or some significant event from the past. When I do the feelings and mental pictures from that day always come back to me.

I'm so grateful for parents and leaders that encouraged me to establish this daily habit as a young boy.
